​A photogrammetric point cloud is computed by software in a similar manner to an orthophoto. The photogrammetric point cloud creates a three-dimensional model of the area of interest. A photogrammetric point cloud is needed when planning or, for example, tree-level analysis is to be performed in three dimensions. Three-dimensional data is valuable when information about tree height is required.
